Emaratech unveils eye scan system to verify ID

DUBAI, March 11, 2015

Emaratech, a leading online and technology solutions company in the region, has unveiled a new system that performs simultaneous document and iris scans to quickly verify travellers’ identity when integrated with border gates.

The announcement was made during the Future of Borders International Conference which opened today (March 11) in Dubai, UAE.

The latest iris recognition system engineered and launched by emaratech has an average acquisition speed of up to two seconds.

“Eyen”, which means guard, sight, noble and people of the region in Arabic language and means sight and vision in English, has been integrated in the new intelligent travel gate that will be launched soon.

“The new gate using ‘eyen’ technology will enhance passengers’ experience with minimal amount of changes in habit norms,” said Thani Alzaffin, director general and board member of emaratech.

“The system also maintains highest level of security using the latest iris recognition technology. At emaratech, we focus first on people and then on process. We study behaviours, review existing processes, analyze the operational and technical challenges, in order to deploy business solutions that enhance the overall experience by process re-engineering,” he added.

“We have been developing solutions with our strategic partners to enable the UAE play a leading role in shaping the future of the industry and enrich travel experiences. We are very proud of the many achievements realized so far with the eGates and the smart gates implemented at all airports in the country and in the region,” Alzaffin noted.

Emaratech is a strategic technology partner of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) which organised the two-day conference at Ritz Carlton, DIFC. The conference has a line-up of 24 speakers from 12 countries, including Alzaffin.

The company has been working with the GDRFA-Dubai in bringing latest technologies and solutions for seamless travellers’ facilitation, including smart gates and e-gates, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
