Five-star stay at St Regis Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, October 4, 2018

By Kim Thomson

You know a St Regis from the moment you walk into the lobby with their signature Staircase and St Regis Abu Dhabi, of course, is no different.

But for this writer, the hotel lobby felt more like the entrance of a stately home as its check-in desks were discreetly located.

As expected, I was greeted by a friendly, smiling young lady at the counter, who conducted all the check-in formalities quick and efficiently and had me escorted to my room within minutes of my arrival.

I was fortunate to have been upgraded to a beautiful Grand Deluxe Suite with two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows, offering panoramas of the Corniche coastline and Abu Dhabi. The view in the bathroom is equally stunning and even better is the huge bath where one could soak the day away.

The bedroom is separated with a half wall from the lounge to give a sense of total separate rooms. The sandy décor reflects the colour of the beach; and with the crystal chandeliers, gives an added warmth to the room and a feeling of home.

The king-sized bed with white linen bedding was one of those that you just wouldn't want to get out of - which is very dangerous when you have early business meetings! A second 42-inch LCD television (the other located in the lounge) provides you entertainment to fall asleep with.

Each room offers complimentary tea and coffee as well as free high-speed internet (a must in this day and age in my opinion). However, in the suites, you don’t have to make our own coffee. If you prefer, a private butler can organise a special coffee or any other drink you may fancy. The butler will also unpack for you, press your suit/dress, or just about anything you may need during your stay.

The butler is not just available while you’re in your room. If you remember something you need done while you’re out of the hotel, the E-butler service is there to assist.

St Regis Abu Dhabi offers 55 suites of different categories within its 283-roomed property – ideal for your premium clients.

If like me, your client likes to keep fit while travelling, St Regis offers two fitness centres. One in the main hotel and the other in the Nation Riviera Beach Club located across the road via an underground passage. There is also a woman’s only gym. All three are fitted with state-of-the-art gym equipment and for those who prefer classes, boot camp and CrossFit sessions, as well as Pilates and sunrise yoga classes, are available. You can also book your personal trainer if you need that little bit of help.

St Regis places big importance on families and therefore, you can be certain that your clients' children will be well catered for. At the Beach club, I witnessed the staff interacting with children of all ages.

Food and beverage, of course, plays a big part in both a business and leisure stay. St Regis Abu Dhabi offers nine outlets to choose from, with options ranging from a quick light bite to seafood, Chinese and Italian cuisine.

I had a lovely meal at Villa Toscana, inspired by a stately Italian summer residence offering traditional Italian cuisine in a small and quaint atmosphere with friendly service. To ensure that it serves its best to the guests, the restaurant occasionally refreshes its menu to ensure the produce is seasonally fresh.

With all this and its Mice options, St Regis Abu Dhabi is a good option to consider for clients corporate and leisure needs. - TradeArabia News Service
