Korean Register (KR) and Hanwha Ocean have signed an MOU to jointly develop two 18,000-cubic-metre LNG bunkering vessel designs, featuring different cargo containment systems to meet growing demand for efficient ship-to-ship LNG fuel transfer.
Korean Register has granted Approval in Principle (AIP) to a newly developed 50,000-cbm LPG carrier, jointly designed with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. The new design fills the gap between the established 45,000 and 60,000 designs, positioning it to serve the varied requirements of the mid-size LPG carrier segment.
Korean Register has partnered with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, BAR Technologies and LISCR to develop a 174,000-cubic-metre LNG carrier featuring WindWings technology, targeting improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions through wind-assisted propulsion.
Korean Register (KR) has published the guidelines for numerical analysis based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), in a joint research initiative with HD Hyundai and Samsung Heavy Industries. It is aimed at providing an alternative to the conventional physical model testing previously used to verify vessel energy efficiency.
