Batelco upgrades mobile broadband packages

Manama, August 2, 2010

Batelco, Bahrain’s leading mobile services provider, has launched new, upgraded O-net mobile broadband packages, including a top of the line ultimate option.

The combination of top quality service combined with competitive prices start from as low as BD2 ($5.30) per month, the telecom company said in a statement.

Batelco’s BD8 Student O-net Package and Batelco’s BD10 and BD25 packages have been enhanced to offer greater capacity. Students that are currently subscribed to Batelco’s BD8 O-net package will have their package automatically upgraded to benefit from 4GB instead of 2GB.

Similarly, the BD10 package will be upgraded to 4GB from 2GB, while the BD25 package will be upgraded to 40GB instead of 7GB. Each of these enhanced packages also features 45 free SMS per month, the statement said.

A brand new package has also made its entry at BD20, with an inbuilt 10GB and 45 free SMS monthly.

Batelco’s BD27 and BD29 packages have been replaced by the enhanced BD25 package and any customers subscribed to either of the cancelled packages will automatically be migrated to the BD25 deal to benefit from superior capacity and lower monthly rate, the company statement said.

Rounding out Batelco’s postpaid O-net offerings are BD2, BD5 and BD14 packages with 100MB, 500MB and 6GB capacity respectively, and up to 45 free SMS monthly.

Batelco O-net devices enable customers to browse the Internet, send and receive SMS, chat using instant messaging service and access internet applications, all from the convenience of a laptop or PC, anywhere and anytime.

“Regardless of the package chosen, Batelco’s customers can benefit from speeds of up to 21 Mbps, reliable coverage and quality of service which is not affected by weather changes, as is the case with WiMax, and furthermore they can depend on round the clock support from Batelco Helpdesk should they require it,” said Ahmed Al Janahi, Batelco Group general manager media & government relations.

Batelco’s mobile postpaid customers can benefit from a low rate of only 600 fils per megabyte for data access when they are roaming in all GCC states and a number of major Arab countries across the Middle East, the statement said.

“O-net enables Batelco customers to work better and more efficiently and stay connected no matter where they are located in the Kingdom. In independent tests carried out throughout the Kingdom, Batelco’s O-Net modem’s download speed compared favourably against its competitors in the market,” added Al Janahi. – TradeArabia News Service
