SABIC-GPCA: Nearly 20 years of common vision and commitment

SABIC is making a major impact at this year’s GPCA conference in Bahrain, marking its participation with a significantly heightened presence and strong senior leadership representation.

As one of the most influential industry players, the company’s expanded role underscores its commitment to advancing dialogue, innovation, and collaboration across the chemical and petrochemical sector. The event is taking place at Exhibition World Bahrain until December 11.

As a founding member of the GPCA, SABIC has played a key role in its rapid growth and expansion since its inception in 2006 as the region’s first voluntary, non-profit association of its kind in the Middle East.

SABIC CEO Eng Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, who is also an Executive Board Member of the company, is the current Chairman of the Association.

GPCA was established on the conviction that the shared interests of member companies can be addressed more effectively through a collective approach led by an independent, dedicated organization. Since then, the association has remained true to its mission, offering meaningful networking opportunities to its members through various platforms, as well as multiple avenues to debate industry issues and address any concerns. These engagements have helped member companies share knowledge on rapidly evolving trends and developments, such as new technologies and sustainability practices.

Successive SABIC CEOs have chaired GPCA for most part of its evolving years. While at the helm, SABIC has been a keen enabler of its efforts to build a global presence for the regional petrochemical and chemical industry. It has supported the organisation in broadening the scope of its annually held forum to include leading figures from the global industry. At these forums, SABIC has advocated the development, growth and prosperity of the industry by promoting relationship building and cooperation among its members and the participating global companies.

As a global industry leader, SABIC’s leadership of GPCA has gone a long way in advancing its role as the voice of the regional industry in key matters of great interest and general concern. The Association has constantly encouraged research, development initiatives, and human capital building, and has helped in building collaborative relationships with global entities, despite industry conditions.

GPCA will mark its 20th anniversary next year to commemorate two decades of bridge building and facilitation efforts to connect the regional petrochemical and chemical industry with the world, and, needless to say, SABIC will continue to extend its support to GPCA for many years to come. -TradeArabia News Service
