QatarEnergy signs helium supply agreements with Buzwair, Uniper

QatarEnergy has signed two long-term sales and purchase agreements (SPAs) for the supply of helium from its facilities in Ras Laffan.

In the first agreement, QatarEnergy entered into a long-term SPA of up to 15 years with Buzwair Industrial Gases Factories (Buzwair) for the supply of 20 million cubic feet per annum of helium.

This deal represents QatarEnergy’s first direct commercial relationship with a local Qatari industrial gas company, highlighting the growing capabilities, expertise, and international reach of regional suppliers within the global helium industry.

In a separate agreement, QatarEnergy signed a long-term SPA of up to 15 years with Uniper Global Commodities SE (Uniper) for the supply of 70 million cubic feet per annum of helium.

This marks QatarEnergy’s first direct partnership with Uniper, a company with a strong track record in supplying bulk wholesale helium to customers worldwide.

Saad Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, said: “Buzwair has built a strong reputation in the helium industry. We are pleased to work with them and to expand our network of partners to include capable and trusted industrial gas companies from the State of Qatar.”

Minister Al-Kaabi added: “We are pleased to welcome Uniper into our growing portfolio of trusted off-takers, with a proven track record in the helium industry.”

Helium plays a pivotal role in a wide range of advanced technologies and essential industrial applications, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners, semiconductors, fiber optics, space exploration, deep sea diving, specialized welding, and other specialized applications. -TradeArabia News Service
