QatarEnergy has signed two long-term sales and purchase agreements (SPAs) for the supply of helium from its facilities in Ras Laffan.
In the first
agreement, QatarEnergy entered into a long-term SPA of up to 15 years with
Buzwair Industrial Gases Factories (Buzwair) for the supply of 20 million cubic
feet per annum of helium.
This deal represents
QatarEnergy’s first direct commercial relationship with a local Qatari
industrial gas company, highlighting the growing capabilities, expertise, and
international reach of regional suppliers within the global helium industry.
In a separate
agreement, QatarEnergy signed a long-term SPA of up to 15 years with Uniper
Global Commodities SE (Uniper) for the supply of 70 million cubic feet per
annum of helium.
This marks
QatarEnergy’s first direct partnership with Uniper, a company with a strong
track record in supplying bulk wholesale helium to customers worldwide.
Saad Al-Kaabi, the
Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy,
said: “Buzwair has built a strong reputation in the helium industry. We are
pleased to work with them and to expand our network of partners to include
capable and trusted industrial gas companies from the State of Qatar.”

helium industry.”
Helium plays a pivotal
role in a wide range of advanced technologies and essential industrial
applications, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners,
semiconductors, fiber optics, space exploration, deep sea diving, specialized
