Topsoe, a leader in carbon-reduction technologies, together with Skovgaard Energy and Vestas, has achieved a milestone by bringing a dynamic green ammonia plant into operation.
The facility produces green ammonia by
dynamically adjusting to fluctuations in renewable power supply.
It integrates variable renewable
electricity with electrolysis and the ammonia synthesis loop, optimising
performance in real time.
This dynamic approach improves efficiency,
enhances cost-effectiveness, and reduces reliance on expensive storage of green
hydrogen or surplus renewable energy, supporting scalable industrial decarbonisation
and future sustainable fuel production worldwide.
Kim Hedegaard, CEO
Power-to-X at Topsoe, said: “This
is a significant achievement. By working across the value chain, we’re
accelerating green ammonia as a pathway to diversify our energy supply and
decarbonise energy-intensive industries and long-distance transportation like
shipping and agriculture.”
Niels Erik Madsen, CEO
at Skovgaard Energy, said: “We are
extremely proud of this groundbreaking project in Northwest Jutland driving
innovation, growth and job creation locally. It demonstrates the energy systems
of tomorrow – scalable worldwide to accelerate the green transition.” -TradeArabia News Service
