The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of the new JADE shipping service, operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), to Jeddah Islamic Port, strengthening maritime connectivity between the Kingdom and Asian markets and supporting global trade flows.
The service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with eight regional and international ports, including Qingdao, Ningbo-Zhoushan, Shanghai, Xiamen, and Yantian in China; Busan in Korea; and Singapore, passing via the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, said a Saudi Press Agency report.
The route includes Valencia Port in Spain through a western Mediterranean transshipment hub before reaching Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdullah Port, with a capacity exceeding 24,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
The move supports Mawani's efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Jeddah Islamic Port, strengthen national exports, and improve supply chain efficiency.
It also aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, reinforcing the Kingdom’s role as a global logistics hub and gateway for international trade.
The service will also support land logistics connectivity from Jeddah Islamic Port to major regional destinations, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Manama in Bahrain, Doha in Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait, enhancing integration between maritime and land transport and facilitating regional trade.
