JCB, Japan’s only international payment brand, has achieved an 82.4 per cent reduction in its own greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in FY2025 compared with FY2013, meeting its emissions reduction target and advancing efforts toward carbon neutrality.
The company said the achievement was driven by expanded use
of CO₂-free electricity and energy-saving measures across its offices.
JCB aims to reach net-zero GHG emissions by FY2030 as part
of its sustainability strategy.
Key office initiatives include the introduction of LED
lighting, upgrades to building equipment such as air-conditioning systems, and
optimisation of operating hours to improve energy efficiency.
Beyond reducing emissions from its own operations, JCB is
also implementing environmental initiatives through its products.
In Japan, the company has issued biomass cards made with
approximately 25 per cent plant-derived materials by weight.
The cards reduce GHG emissions by around 3.9 grams per card
compared with conventional petroleum-based cards.
Since launching biomass cards in July 2023, JCB has expanded
availability, with cumulative issuance reaching approximately 500,000 cards in
Japan by the end of June 2026.
The company said the use of renewable materials also helps
reduce reliance on finite resources such as petroleum. -TradeArabia News Service
