Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier, Riyadh Air, has launched operations to Spain with its first direct scheduled flight between Riyadh and Madrid landing at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport.
Flight RX0531 marks the only direct air link between the two
capitals, aimed at boosting tourism, trade and cultural ties under Saudi Vision
2030.
The launch follows Riyadh Air’s seasonal service to Malaga,
which began on July 14 and will operate through September 8, 2026.
The airline also signed a strategic memorandum of
understanding with Spanish carrier Air Europa to develop connectivity between
their hubs, including potential codeshare cooperation, loyalty partnerships,
cargo services and digital initiatives.
The Madrid route strengthens links between Saudi Arabia and
Spain, where nearly 250 Spanish companies currently operate.
Riyadh Air also continues its partnership with Atlético
Madrid as the club’s main sponsor and stadium naming partner.
Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, stated: "Today, we
have built a critical bridge that brings Saudi Arabia and Spain closer than
ever before. Touchdown in Madrid, paired with our seasonal Malaga service and
our new strategic partnership with Air Europa, represents a massive leap
forward in our mission to connect Riyadh to the world. We are incredibly proud
to welcome guests aboard our state-of-the-art Dreamliners to experience
authentic Saudi hospitality, whilst offering Spanish travelers a seamless
gateway to Riyadh's booming business and leisure landscape." -TradeArabia News Service
