Wood has secured a new contract from Binh Son Refining (BSR) to provide Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for the $1.5 billion upgrade and expansion of Vietnam’s Dung Quat Refinery.

Following the completion of feasibility and front-end engineering design (FEED) phases, Wood will oversee project delivery, including engineering reviews, procurement, contract management, project controls, quality, health, safety and environmental standards, construction management and commissioning support.

The expansion will modernise Vietnam’s first oil refinery, a key facility for national energy security, with commissioning expected to begin in 2028.

The project will increase refining capacity to 171,000 barrels per day and introduce six proprietary technology units, allowing the refinery to process a wider range of crude oils.

The upgraded facility will also produce fuels meeting Euro 5 emission standards, supporting Vietnam’s environmental goals. BSR is a subsidiary of Petrovietnam.
