Wynn Resorts invests over $1bn in RAK project, targets Sept 2027 opening

US-based Wynn Resorts has invested more than $1 billion in the development of its landmark Wynn Al Marjan Island project in Ras Al Khaimah, reaffirming its commitment to what will become the UAE's first integrated resort with gaming facilities.

The company said it contributed an additional $48.1 million during the second quarter of 2026 to the 40%-owned joint venture developing the project, taking its cumulative investment to $1.06 billion.

Construction continues to progress on schedule, with Wynn Al Marjan Island expected to open in September 2027, marking a major milestone for both the company and the UAE's rapidly expanding tourism and hospitality sector.

The update came as Wynn Resorts reported its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026.

Located on the man-made Al Marjan Island in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, the multibillion-dollar development is one of the largest tourism projects currently under construction in the Gulf. The resort is expected to transform the northern emirate into a global luxury leisure destination while broadening the UAE's appeal to international tourists.

The project will feature more than 1,500 luxury hotel rooms and suites, high-end villas, dozens of restaurants and lounges, premium retail outlets, wellness and spa facilities, entertainment venues, convention and meeting spaces, and extensive beachfront amenities. It will also house the UAE's first licensed gaming area following the establishment of the country's federal gaming regulatory framework.

Wynn Al Marjan Island is being developed through a joint venture between Wynn Resorts, Ras Al Khaimah-based Marjan, and RAK Hospitality Holding. Wynn owns a 40% stake in the venture and is responsible for the resort's design and future management.

The development is widely seen as a catalyst for Ras Al Khaimah's tourism ambitions, with industry analysts expecting it to attract millions of visitors annually, generate thousands of jobs, and stimulate significant investments in hotels, residential developments and supporting infrastructure across the emirate.
