Metito Utilities has been awarded the operation and maintenance (O&M) contract for the Dubai South Sewage Treatment Plant by Dubai World Central Corporation, strengthening the company’s role in operating critical wastewater infrastructure in the UAE.
Located in Dubai South, near Al Maktoum International Airport, the sewage treatment plant has a treatment capacity of 10,000 cubic metres per day and uses membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology with ceramic membranes to treat wastewater in accordance with Dubai Municipality standards.
Under the O&M contract, Metito Utilities will assume full responsibility for the plant’s day-to-day operation and maintenance. Its scope includes process control, plant performance optimization, regulatory compliance and long-term asset reliability.
The company will also implement proactive maintenance strategies and operational optimization measures to maintain reliable plant performance and support the long-term resilience of the wastewater treatment facility.
Sachin Kodolikar, Chief Operations Officer at Metito Utilities, said the company’s experience in operating and maintaining critical water and wastewater assets will enable it to optimize plant performance, implement proactive maintenance and deliver reliable and efficient operations at Dubai South.
The award comes as Dubai South continues to expand as a major urban, logistics and aviation development around Al Maktoum International Airport. Reliable wastewater infrastructure will support the area’s growing communities and developments while contributing to sustainable urban growth.
The Dubai South Sewage Treatment Plant forms part of the wastewater infrastructure supporting the wider Dubai South development, providing treated wastewater capacity to meet the requirements of the rapidly developing area.
