Metso expands mining pump portfolio with Valmet acquisition

Metso has signed an agreement to acquire peristaltic hose pump and progressive cavity pump technologies, along with related aftermarket spare parts and service capabilities, from Valmet, strengthening its position in slurry handling solutions for mining and industrial applications.

The acquisition will expand Metso’s pumping portfolio with technologies designed to handle abrasive, corrosive, viscous and crystallizing slurries in demanding operating conditions.

Applications include thickener underflow, filter feed, flocculant dosing, slurry sampling and recirculation.

Metso said the acquired business has a growing installed base that will provide stable aftermarket spare parts and service revenues.

The deal will also enhance the company’s ability to offer comprehensive slurry handling and pumping solutions across the mining flowsheet.

The transaction is expected to close on October 1, 2026, subject to customary conditions.

The financial terms were not disclosed, while Metso said the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on its financial performance.

Following completion, the acquired products, currently marketed under Valmet’s Flowrox brand, will be integrated into Metso’s pumps portfolio and rebranded under the Metso name.

Production will move to Metso’s manufacturing facilities in Lappeenranta, Finland, with related personnel transferring to the site.

“We are excited to welcome the new offerings as well as the team and their expertise to Metso. This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver end-to-end slurry handling solutions, with stronger and complementing offering in demanding heavy-duty applications. In addition, it enhances our aftermarket and service capabilities as a long-term full lifecycle partner in key mining markets globally,” says Tiago Marques Oliveira, Vice President, Pumps Business Line, Metso.  -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
