Morocco is emerging as an increasingly popular summer destination for GCC travellers, with strong tourism growth and growing regional interest supporting its appeal beyond traditional European holiday markets.
Morocco recorded a record 19.8 million tourist arrivals in
2025, a 14 per cent year-on-year increase, while tourism receipts rose 21
percent to MAD 138 billion ($15 billion).
Momentum continued into 2026, with 9.4 million visitors
recorded during the first half of the year, up 6 percent from the same period
in 2025.
Interest from the Gulf is also rising.
Wego’s Summer 2026 data ranked Morocco among the five
most-searched international destinations for travellers from Saudi Arabia,
highlighting demand for destinations combining accessibility, culture, leisure
and value.
The growth comes as Morocco targets 26 million annual
visitors by 2030, with the Middle East identified as an important source
market.
The country’s Atlantic coast is central to its diverse
tourism proposition.
Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort, spread across 250 hectares
and seven kilometres of coastline, offers 500 rooms and suites, 15 restaurants,
an 18-hole Gary Player-designed golf course, wellness facilities and family
activities.
Jacques Claudel, General Manager of Mazagan Beach & Golf
Resort, said: “GCC travellers are increasingly exploring a broader range of
destinations that offer more than a traditional summer break. Morocco combines
culture, coastline, gastronomy and hospitality in a way that appeals
particularly to families and multi-generational travellers.”
He added: “At Mazagan, guests can combine beach, golf,
wellness, dining and family experiences within one destination, while also
discovering the richness of Morocco and its Atlantic coast.” -TradeArabia News Service
