EWEC (Emirates Water and Electricity Company) will demonstrate at the 28th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) how its strategic long-term planning is translating into delivery.

By 2035, more than 60% of Abu Dhabi's electricity is forecast to come from sustainable sources and reverse osmosis (RO) will account for 92% of installed water capacity, securing a resilient water and electricity future for the UAE.

As a Strategic Sponsor and a long-standing partner and exhibitor, EWEC has consistently supported WETEX as a global platform for advancing sustainable energy innovation.

Unprecedented scale

EWEC is integrating advanced generation and desalination technologies at the unprecedented scale required to meet the UAE's rising demand.

At WETEX, EWEC will detail the technical execution of this transition through a world-leading portfolio spanning some of the largest utility-scale solar photovoltaic plants globally, advanced battery energy storage systems, and one of the largest low-carbon-intensive RO desalination facilities in the world.

The EWEC leadership team will extend this technical discussion into the exhibition's seminar programme, addressing grid stability, water system resilience, solar power development, and EWEC's upcoming projects.

New sources of demand

Mohamed Almarzooqi, Chief Assets Officer of EWEC, said: "Demand for water and electricity across the UAE continues to rise, and new sources of demand are emerging. EWEC strategically plans and procures transformative water and electricity capacity years ahead of need. At WETEX, we will not only outline our strategic roadmap, but we will actively showcase the latest technological advancements and existing deployments across our reverse osmosis and solar PV infrastructure.

“Executing a systemic energy transition of this magnitude can only be achieved by cultivating deep, strategic collaboration with all our stakeholders. Therefore, we highly encourage industry partners and developers to visit our stand and engage with our technical experts to explore how we are shaping a secure, cost-efficient, and sustainable energy sector for the nation."

EWEC will also hold dedicated sessions on Clean Energy Certificates (CECs), a globally recognised mechanism for verifying renewable and clean electricity consumption.
