South Africa’s Adroit Technologies and Nigeria-based Aril Technologies are strengthening operational safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector through the deployment of advanced supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology.
The project demonstrates how Adroit’s scalable SCADA
platform enables geographically dispersed oil and gas facilities to be
monitored and controlled from a central control room, providing real-time
operational visibility, supporting proactive maintenance and improving
decision-making.
The partnership originated through the companies’ mutual
relationship with Mitsubishi Electric and has developed into a technology
collaboration serving Nigeria’s oil and gas market.
“Our partnership with Aril Technologies demonstrates the
value of combining local market expertise with world-class industrial
automation technology,” comments John Duncan, Business Development Manager,
Africa at Adroit Technologies.
“The oil and gas industry demands solutions that are
reliable, scalable and capable of supporting complex operations across multiple
sites. Adroit SCADA delivers exactly that by giving operators the visibility
and control they need to improve efficiency while enhancing safety and
compliance,” says Duncan.
Centralised monitoring of oil and gas facilities
The implementation uses a centralised, multiprotocol label
switching (MPLS) cloud-based SCADA network to monitor and control multiple
facilities in real time.
Operational data from remote sites is consolidated into a
single control environment, giving operators and management access to live and
historical information for informed decision-making.
The platform can be customised to meet individual customers’
operational requirements while retaining the scalability needed to accommodate
future expansion.
“Our relationship with Adroit has been built on their
ability to provide bespoke SCADA solutions that address our customers’ specific
operational requirements,” explains Adeshile Adetokunbo Seun, MD/COO of Aril
Technologies Limited. “Their technical expertise, flexibility and commitment to
delivering customised solutions have enabled us to successfully execute complex
automation projects for leading organisations within Nigeria’s oil and gas
sector.”
Enhancing safety and environmental protection
A key element of the deployment is the integration of tank
overfill protection systems at tank farm facilities.
The systems combine Mitsubishi Electric programmable logic
controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs) with Adroit SCADA
technology to monitor tank levels, alarm conditions and other critical safety
parameters from a central control room.
Early-warning alarms and automated protective actions help
prevent tank overflows and oil spills, reducing environmental risks while
protecting personnel and infrastructure.
The systems have also helped customers improve plant
efficiency, lower maintenance costs and strengthen compliance with local
regulatory requirements through continuous monitoring and spill prevention.
Supporting Africa’s digital transformation
The collaboration reflects the growing importance of
industrial automation as African oil and gas operators pursue digitalisation
and improved operational resilience.
By combining SCADA technology with regional expertise,
Adroit Technologies and Aril Technologies aim to support better asset
performance, enhanced safety and more effective decision-making across
Nigeria’s complex industrial operations.
Their partnership also highlights the role of scalable automation solutions in advancing productivity and environmental stewardship across Africa’s energy sector. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
