US-based information technology company, HP, has announced that its collaboration with UAE law enforcement has led to an important seizure of counterfeit printing supplies destined for HP printers.

In coordinated strikes at three locations in Dubai, UAE authorities confiscated more than 30,000 illegal items from a repeat offender who had resumed his counterfeiting activities more than a year after Emirati officials had raided illicit operations belonging to the same organisation.

The recent raids, which took place in August, recovered finished fake LaserJet print cartridges, fake LaserJet security labels, flat boxes as well as the machinery, spare parts and bags to manufacture illegal printing supplies. Authorities arrested three people.

This is the third police action this year in which UAE officials have disrupted counterfeit operations targeting HP supplies. The total number of such items confiscated in the UAE since 2011 exceeds two million.

“HP extends its most sincere appreciation to the Dubai Police and its pursuit of counterfeiters in the UAE,” said Salim Ziade, general manager, printing and personal systems group, HP Middle East. “We will continue to collaborate with them to protect honest merchants and customers who deserve and expect original product quality and reliability.”
