DUBAI, March 31, 2015

Delegates from more than 30 different countries are set to attend a gastroenterology and hepatology conference in Dubai this week.

The Emirates Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society annual conference (EGHC 2015) will take place on April 2 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Dr Maryam Al Khatry, president of the society, said the conference continues to grow in terms of quality of its educational content and in terms of participation.

"On behalf of my colleagues the members of the Emirates Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry for his patronage and to the Dubai Health Authority and all our strategic partners for their continued support and endorsement of our efforts to bring timely medical education to the region in collaboration with world leading organisations." she said.

"We have, for the third year in a row, received the endorsement of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) and further extended international collaboration by receiving the endorsement of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, which is a vote of confidence in the quality of educational content provided at EGHC 2015 and its growing regional prominence."

"A key feature of EGHC 2015 will be the Video Endoscopy Capsule workshop and an Advanced Diagnostics Endoscopy course on April 1, to be delivered by expert faculty from the World Endoscopy Organization."

"We have also expanded the Hands-on training program from two to six training stations, to cater for 300 physicians throughout the three days, which is due to the increasingly high demand from the participants for such training opportunities,” she added.

Dr Mohamed Al Zaabi,  chairperson of the Scientific Committee, said: "EGHC 2015 will include important updates on the treatment and prevention of Gastroenterological diseases, including sessions on Acid related and functional disorders, IBD and other enteric diseases and Liver Problems among others.

"The scientific programme will feature the latest updates and research findings on the treatment of Hepatitis ‘C’, through a series of interactive presentations by a faculty of some of the most prominent experts.”

“Live Endoscopy cases will be transmitted at the meeting hall from Rashid Hospital during the first two days, in addition to a dedicated nursing programme on April 4,” he added. - TradeArabia News Service
