SonicWall unveils high-speed wireless

Dubai, March 24, 2009

SonicWall, a leading secure network infrastructure company, today (March 24) announced a new high-speed Clean Wireless solution, which can simplify administration and maintenance, according to a statement.

The Clean Wireless solution combines 802.11n wireless controller functionality in NSA and TZ firewalls with SonicPoint-N Dual-Band smart access points.

“As more of our customers have their workforces become mobile, we need a way to provide LAN-equivalent security and performance access in a wireless network without significant implementation and management overhead,” said Wayne Boshier, technical director of Issus Middle East, SonicWall’s Silver partner.

“The new SonicWall wireless solution enables us to quickly deploy a highly secure and scalable wireless infrastructure to the benefit of our own employees and our customers’ employees.”

The Clean Wireless solution SonicOS 5.2 scans all wireless traffic using SonicWall’s reassembly-free deep packet inspection patented technology, delivering  comprehensive  protection from viruses, spyware and other malicious network threats on the wireless network by scrutinizing wireless traffic with the same intensity as wired traffic, he added.

The Clean Wireless solution enables IT administrators to build high-performance, distributed wireless networks with unified policy management across both the wireless and wired networks.

“People are under the misconception that simply by turning on built-in wireless encryption, their wireless communications are secure,” said Shahnawaz Sheikh, SonicWall’s regional sales manager for Middle East and Africa. “They are wrong.”

“The wireless network is only truly secure when you not only encrypt the traffic, but are also able to clean every packet from content based threats like viruses and malware,” he explained.

With the release of SonicOS 5.2, SonicWall has expanded the integrated secure wireless controller software with Clean Wireless technology for NSA E-class, NSA and TZ 210 unified threat management firewalls to include the high speed 802.11n wireless standard.

The new solution greatly simplifies administration and maintenance and reduces the cost of deploying and maintaining a combination wired and wireless network environment, the statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
