10 new retailers to open at mall's metro link

Dubai, August 17, 2009

Ten new stores are to open along the unique link between Dubai's Mall of the Emirates and its metro station.

Seven new retailers, Home Sweet Home, Emax, E-City, Paperchase, Borders Express, Cold Stone Creamery and Nokia, will open up their first stores at Mall of the Emirates in the metro link, UAE Exchange will open their second outlet at the mall and two existing retailers, Jacky’s and Better Life, will be relocating to the area.

The Paperchase outlet will be making their express store debut in the UAE market, Nokia will be opening the world’s first Evo Nokia store and Borders Express will be introducing their first Metro station format store catering to the everyday needs of the commuters.

The link, which connects Mall of the Emirates to the metro stop, transports passengers using a completely covered air conditioned travellator system.

The new outlets will be on the first floor above the Carrefour hypermarket, giving passengers increased shopping opportunities on their way from mall to metro.
Complete with ATM machines, a separate customer service desk, bathrooms, trolley bays and courtesy parking crews to assist customers.

“The metro link will make traveling to the mall so much easier for our shoppers from all around Dubai. We have a direct link from the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station and a new bus stop that is expected to have 150 buses stopping at it during peak hours serving the local area. We’ve included some express store formats too to cater to the last minute needs of customers getting on to the metro,” stated Fuad Sharaf, vice-president of Mall of the Emirates.

The Mall of the Emirates Metro Station is based on the elements of fire and will have a red and orange feel to it with the 175 meters link comprising three travellators operating in both directions.

A mall customer services desk will be placed on the station itself and another in the Metro Link to ensure customers’ experience the best in shopping, leisure and entertainment from the moment they step out on to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station.-TradeArabia News Service
