Philips to unveil monitor range at Berlin expo

DUBAI, August 27, 2015

Philips will unveil its new range of monitors at the upcoming IFA 2015, the world's leading trade show for consumer electronics in Berlin, Germany, said MMD, the brand license partner for Philips Monitors.

Among the highlights is the new curved monitor, a Philips display first. This 34-inch display features edge-to-edge glass and ultra-narrow border enhancing the seamless appearance and maximizing the viewing area. Razor-sharp visuals are made possible by CrystalClear, UltraWide Quad HD resolution (3440 x 1440), AH-IPS LCD technology, while a wide viewing angle to bring graphics and images to life.

The display used DTS Sound technology to elevate the playback quality of music, movies, streaming and games to new levels, a statement said.

Also on show is the new Philips 27-inch LCD Monitor with UltraClear 5K resolution. With 14.7 million pixels (5,120 x 2,880), the latest 5K resolution technology packs four times more content per screen inch than Quad HD resolution, for more dazzling visuals than ever.

The new display is also equipped with PerfectKolor Technology, which ensures factory-calibrated 99 per cent AdobeRGB colour space and one billion colours. As well as brilliant colour and resolution, the display is thoughtfully engineered to fit the way people work, with webcam, MultiView for dividing the display space into multiple partitions, built-in speakers for great sound, as well as a non-glare screen and Flicker-free technology for reduced eye fatigue.

Taking colour intensity to the max, a new 27-inch IPS-ADS Adobe RGB display with Quantum Dot Colour IQ is also premiered at IFA 2015. This transformative technology delivers over 50 per cent more colour than traditional LEDs. It is also more affordable, costing a fraction of most colour-critical technologies, and more energy-efficient: Quantum Dot Colour IQ uses 25 per cent less energy than comparable technologies.

IFA 2015 marks the European debut appearance of the Ambiglow Plus Base. Ambiglow technology creates a halo of light on and around the base that syncs with the display image to create a more immersive viewing experience.

The light is still available even when the display is off so users can adjust colour and brightness to create a unique room ambience. It is also possible to set the timer to wake up or fall asleep with light of a chosen color.

MMD is also rolling out its innovative SoftBlue technology to a 24-inch display, which will be on show at IFA 2015. SoftBlue technology protects eyes and reduces eye fatigue by mitigating the impact of blue-light exposure. It does this by eliminating blue light emissions at potentially harmful wavelengths, but without sacrificing the fidelity and quality of the original colour. Users therefore enjoy well-being for their eyes as well as professional-grade colour fidelity.
