Maldives airline appoints Sharaf as GSA

Maldives-based Island Aviation Services Limited (IAS) has appointed Sharaf Travel, Dubai, as its passenger General Sales Agent (GSA) for UAE and Oman.

The agreement was signed yesterday (May 5) by Bandhu Ibrahim Saleem, managing director, IAS, and Salah Sharaf, chairman, Sharaf Travel.

The appointment of GSA in the Middle East is a step towards expanding IAS international operations in the region in future, a statement said.

IAS intends to expand its operations by adding new destinations in South Asia and to Dubai as well.

IAS was incepted in April 2000 and commenced its domestic services within the country.  IAS commenced its regional operations with its first flight to Trivandrum, India in  January this year.

The company is also the ground handling agent for all the airlines that operate at Male International Airport. In addition to this, IAS operates air cargo warehouse and provides business class lounge facilities for premium passengers at Male International Airport and domestic airports in the country.

Sharaf Travel, is among the top 10 agencies in the UAE and has grown since its inception in 1991 with offices all over the UAE and Oman. 

Sharaf represents  a gamut of leisure trvel products including cuises and several airlines such as ANA, Delta, Finnair, LTU, South African Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Bangkok Airways, Hainan Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Icelandair, Virgin Nigeria, Afriqiyah Airways, Eritrean Airlines, GMG Airlines & TAAG Angola Airlines. - TradeArabia News Service
