The Chedi Al Bait, Sharjah completes heritage restoration

Just 25 kilometres from Dubai, Sharjah is undergoing a cultural revival through the Heart of Sharjah initiative, blending Islamic heritage with contemporary life.

At its heart, The Chedi Al Bait, Sharjah, a 65-key luxury hotel, transforms seven historic manor houses into an immersive Emirati experience.

Developed with the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority and UNESCO, the property combines refined hospitality with architectural integrity, preserving a genuine sense of place.

In collaboration with the Sharjah Institute of Heritage, the hotel recently completed a major restoration of its century-old coral stone walls, embedded with fossilised seashells.

Each shell was carefully removed, documented, and repositioned by hand using traditional techniques and a custom plaster, preserving both the structure and the craftsmanship behind it.

The painstaking process ensures that the walls retain their original character, safeguarding Sharjah’s cultural memory. -TradeArabia News Service
