Ritchie Bros. closes Orlando auction netting $265m in sales

Ritchie Bros., one of the world’s leading industrial auctioneers and a leading global asset management company, closed its Orlando (Florida) auction on a successful note with sales of more than 14,500 assets that generated over $265+ million in total sales.

The world’s largest construction equipment auction, attracted over 1,180 sellers, including 36 international sellers outside North America, specially from EMEA and APAC countries, with strong participation from China, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands.

The recent Orlando auction provided a clear proof point of Ritchie Bros.’ global marketplace model in action.

"Orlando is a clear example of how Ritchie Bros. opens doors to international markets and provides access to truly global demand," said Finlay Massey, VP Asia Pacific & Sourcing.

"Whether in EMEA, APAC or the Americas, our scale, reach and market insight give customers confidence that their equipment will reach the markets where demand is strongest and value is maximised," stated Massey.

With its solid performance at auctions such as the one at Orlando, Ritchie Bros., continues to prove why it is the partner of choice for international used equipment customers, combining unparalleled global reach, advisory expertise, and full-service support to help customers maximize the value of their assets across borders, stated Massey.

Of the total sales generated at the Orlando auction, $17 million was equipment sourced from outside the US, shipped across 122 containers worldwide.

This demonstrates Ritchie Bros.’ ability to connect sellers and buyers across continents, creating a global pricing benchmark, said the top official.

Demand engagement reflected the same international scale, with more than 19,500 bidders in total, including 952 international bidders (excluding USA, Canada, and Mexico), from countries such as Colombia, the UAE, the Dominican Republic, Germany, Egypt and China.

More than 4,180 buyers participated in total, of which 228 were international beyond North America, including markets such us United Kingdom, Spain, the UAE, Germany, and Australia.

In today’s dynamic global marketplace, used equipment rarely stays within a single region. Shifting trade policies, evolving regulations, and changing documentation requirements influence where and how machinery is bought and sold, said the top official.

Leveraging extensive transaction data across EMEA, APAC, and beyond, Ritchie Bros. guides sellers to the right market for each asset, supported by expert advisory teams, operational infrastructure and end-to-end service.

This data-driven approach was reflected in Orlando with the sale of a standout 2024 Cat D10 Next Gen sourced from the Czech Republic, which sold for $1.7 million, achieving its highest value by being positioned in the optimal international market through Ritchie Bros.’ advisory expertise and global reach, he stated.

The results also highlight the strength of Ritchie Bros.’ international capabilities, with European sellers accessing worldwide demand and European buyers actively participating in international auctions—demonstrating how Ritchie Bros.’ global model works locally, he added.

David Dahirel, Sales Director Europe South & Sourcing, said: "Market conditions, tariffs and regional regulations can quickly change where the best place is to sell a piece of equipment."

"Our international reach, combined with deep market insight and local expertise, allows us to advise customers on where to sell to maximise returns. At the same time, our full-service support—from documentation and compliance to shipping and logistics—removes complexity and risk from cross-border transactions," he stated.

Success in today’s global equipment marketplace goes beyond simply finding a buyer—it requires connecting with the right buyer, in the right market, at the right time, in order to maximize value for all parties.

"As a trusted partner, Ritchie Bros. demonstrated this at the Orlando auction, showing that international selling can be profitable, seamless, and stress-free. Sellers benefit from our unmatched global reach, expert market guidance, and full-service support, while buyers worldwide can source the right equipment for their needs. This is about maximizing value for all parties," added Dahirel.-TradeArabia News Service
