Saudi Arabia announced that Eid Al Fitr will begin on Friday (March 20), after the crescent moon marking the end of Ramadan was not sighted.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court made an official call urging Muslims across Saudi Arabia to sight the crescent moon of Shawwal on Wednesday evening, Ramadan 29, corresponding to March 18, 2026.
The sighting of the Shawwal crescent marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of the week-long Eid Al-Fitr celebration in the Kingdom.
In Bahrain, the Moon Sighting Committee announced that Thursday (March 19) will complete the Holy Month of Ramadan and that Friday (March 20) will be the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
In a statement, the committee said it convened on the evening of Wednesday, March 18 (29 Ramadan 1447 AH) at the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) for the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.
The SCIA extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, members of the Royal Family, the people of Bahrain, and the Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.
