Iran has formally presented to Pakistani mediators its response to the latest US proposal aimed at ending the war, a source familiar with the matter confirmed on Sunday.

According to the proposed plan, the current phase of negotiations is focused exclusively on the cessation of hostilities in the region, an IRNA report said.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson had previously said that Tehran’s views and considerations regarding the US proposals would be transmitted once internal reviews and final conclusions were completed.

According to published reports, the US and Iran are negotiating over a one-page memo to end the war and establish a framework for more detailed negotiations. The Qataris are playing a key role in mediating between the sides.

Shortly before the Iranian response, the Qatari prime minister spoke by phone with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and discussed the deal, the Qatari foreign ministry said.
