Engineering and testing services company Applus+ has secured a contract from a major oil and gas operator in Angola to provide 3D modelling and laser-scanning services for offshore asset management and engineering operations.
The award follows two years of successful project delivery
and underscores continued confidence in Applus+’ expertise in offshore data
capture, digital modelling and asset digitalisation.
The programme is designed to support long-term asset
integrity, improve engineering data accuracy and create reliable digital
references for offshore platforms and FPSO facilities operating in
safety-critical environments.
Under the contract, Applus+ will carry out offshore
inspections and data acquisition using laser scanning, photogrammetry and
drone-assisted surveys.
The collected data will be converted into intelligent E3D
models and digital twins, creating fully navigable virtual representations of
offshore assets.
These models will support engineering design reviews,
inspection planning, clash detection, maintenance activities and future
modification projects without requiring repeated offshore surveys.
The project will be delivered through a global execution
model.
Applus+ in Angola will oversee contract management, offshore
operations and local compliance, while teams in Europe and Asia will provide
project governance, quality assurance, point-cloud processing and digital twin
development.
The resulting digital twins are expected to improve planning
efficiency, reduce offshore exposure and support future digitalisation
initiatives across additional offshore assets. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
