OEG secures major contract for Gennaker offshore wind farm

OEG, an energy solutions provider, has secured a major contract from OWP Gennaker to deliver a subsea corrosion protection system for the Gennaker Offshore Wind Farm in Germany’s Baltic Sea.

The project is being developed by offshore wind infrastructure platform Skyborn Renewables.

Under the contract, OEG will provide Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) systems designed to protect the wind farm’s turbine foundations from corrosion throughout their operational life, supporting long-term reliability and performance.

OEG’s scope covers the full project lifecycle, including detailed engineering, procurement, manufacturing oversight, offshore logistics, installation, testing and commissioning.

Its project management and offshore teams will carry out the installation campaign using established methodologies and specialist subsea equipment.

OEG will work with cathodic protection specialist CORROSION to deploy the ICCP-Subsea Assembly Method (SAM), a remote installation system jointly developed by the companies.

The technology is designed to enable safer and more efficient installation of ICCP systems on subsea structures while reducing offshore installation complexity.

The contract strengthens OEG’s expanding position in Europe’s offshore wind market and adds to its growing portfolio of offshore construction, installation and asset integrity projects for developers and Tier 1 contractors.

Engineering and procurement activities will begin immediately, followed by manufacturing support, system integration and offshore installation in line with the wind farm’s construction schedule.

The award also expands OEG’s subsea offshore wind capabilities, which include construction and installation, cathodic protection, remotely operated vehicle operations, survey and positioning, inspection, repair and maintenance, cable support and intervention, and offshore project management and engineering.

The contract reinforces OEG’s role in supporting the development and long-term integrity of Europe’s expanding offshore renewable energy infrastructure.

Rutger Lieverse, Commercial Director for OEG's Subsea division, said: "We are delighted to have been selected by OWP Gennaker for this important project. It reflects the confidence our clients place in our ability to deliver integrated corrosion protection solutions that combine engineering expertise, innovative technology and specialist offshore installation capabilities.”

Lieverse added: “By working alongside CORROSION, we're bringing together complementary expertise to deliver a safe, efficient and reliable solution for one of Germany's most significant offshore wind developments. As offshore wind continues to expand across Europe, we're committed to supporting developers with innovative technologies and integrated services that maximise asset performance throughout their operational life." -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
