Oman’s low-cost carrier SalamAir has launched its first direct flight between Muscat and Sylhet, Bangladesh, becoming the first foreign airline to operate scheduled services to the city.

Sylhet is SalamAir’s third destination in Bangladesh, strengthening connectivity between Oman and the Indian Subcontinent.

The inaugural flight departed Muscat International Airport with a load factor of around 70%, indicating encouraging demand for the new route.

 SalamAir CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns and airline representatives met Bangladesh’s Chargé d’Affaires in Oman, Mahmudur Rahman, ahead of the departure.

Upon arrival at Osmani International Airport, the flight was welcomed at an official ceremony attended by airline executives, airport and government officials, aviation partners and media representatives.

Steven Allen, Chief Commercial Officer of SalamAir, said: “The launch of our service to Sylhet, SalamAir’s third destination in Bangladesh, marks an important milestone in our continued expansion across the Indian Subcontinent.
