Wego has reported growing demand for shorter getaways among travellers from Kuwait, with September marking a shift towards more compact regional and international trips following the peak summer holiday period.

According to Wego’s latest data, the number of trips of four nights or fewer selected for September departures increased 40% compared with August, highlighting stronger demand for shorter breaks as travellers return to regular routines.

Dubai, Cairo, Istanbul, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi emerged as the most searched destinations for September, offering a mix of culture, entertainment, dining, shopping and leisure within shorter stays.

Bahrain recorded the strongest growth, with searches for September departures rising 38% compared with August. Return fares to the leading destinations started from KWD55 ($178) per passenger, with searches made around a month before departure.

“September brings a noticeable change in travel patterns following the peak summer period. For travellers from Kuwait, shorter breaks offer an opportunity to fit travel around returning routines, whether that means a few days in a nearby destination or a stay closer to home. What we're seeing is an appetite for trips that are easy to plan, well connected, and still offer a meaningful change of scenery,” said Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego.

Interest in domestic travel also remained strong. Wego recorded a 53% year-on-year increase in hotel searches within Kuwait during July and August, indicating continued demand for staycations during the summer.

Kuwait City attracted the highest share of searches, followed by Salmiya and Al Khiran, while average nightly rates started from KWD63.

The data suggests travellers are increasingly favouring shorter, flexible breaks that can be easily incorporated into their schedules.

Both nearby international destinations and domestic stays are providing options for Kuwait travellers seeking convenient escapes after the summer peak. -TradeArabia News Service
