AlUla’s luxury hospitality scene gains 10 MICHELIN guide mentions

AlUla has strengthened its position as a luxury hospitality and culinary destination after 10 hotels and restaurants were featured in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide for Saudi Arabia.

The latest selection recognises the quality, authenticity and distinctive character of AlUla’s hospitality offering, with venues reflecting the destination’s heritage, landscapes and local culture.

Three hotels received One MICHELIN Key, including Dar Tantora The House Hotel, The Chedi Hegra and Banyan Tree AlUla.

Dar Tantora, located in AlUla Old Town, occupies restored historic mudbrick homes and combines heritage architecture with an eco-boutique experience.

The Chedi Hegra was recognised for its setting within Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The property incorporates historic structures, ancient fort walls and the former AlUla railway station into its luxury offering.

Banyan Tree AlUla retained its One MICHELIN Key for its experience in the sandstone canyons of Ashar Valley, combining minimalist design, sustainability and a nature-focused setting.

The hotel selection also includes Our Habitas AlUla, known for its wellness and environmentally conscious approach, and Caravan by Habitas AlUla, which offers an adventure-focused desert experience.

In the dining category, Tofareya entered the guide with a Bib Gourmand for its Saudi cuisine.

Located in a traditional house in AlUla Old Town, the restaurant uses local ingredients including AlUla oranges and dates from the ancient oasis.

Tofareya joins Joontos at Dar Tantora The House Hotel as a Bib Gourmand recipient, with the restaurant recognised for its contemporary interpretation of traditional Saudi dishes.

Somewhere, located within the AlUla Oasis, also entered the guide for the first time, offering Middle Eastern cuisine with contemporary influences in a palm-filled setting.

The 2026 selection also includes returning MICHELIN-recognised venues Harrat at Banyan Tree AlUla, known for pan-Arabic cuisine, and Tama at Our Habitas AlUla, which focuses on farm-to-table dining and seasonal local produce.

With 10 venues included in the guide, AlUla has established a significant concentration of MICHELIN-recognised hospitality offerings in the region.

The recognition further highlights the destination’s development as a global centre for luxury travel, culinary experiences and heritage tourism, combining high-end hospitality with its ancient landscapes and cultural attractions. -TradeArabia News Service
