Bahrain opens bidding for multi-storey factory project

Bahrain's Ministry of Industry and Commerce has invited bids for the development of a multi-storey factory complex in Salman Industrial City, as the kingdom seeks to improve the use of industrial land and support small businesses and emerging manufacturers, reported BNA.

The project was announced on the sidelines of the Made in GCC 2026 Forum and Exhibition and will be located in the Bahrain International Investment Park in Hidd.

The site covers 6,700 sq m, with a building footprint of about 2,680 sq m and a total floor area of approximately 10,720 sq m, stated the report.

According to the ministry, the bidding process will be based on the rental value offered for the land.

The successful bidder will sign a lease agreement with the ministry and be responsible for developing the site, constructing and operating the complex, and leasing its industrial units exclusively to entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized industrial enterprises, subject to applicable regulations, said the report, citing the ministry.

The project will use a vertical development model to maximise the use of industrial land and provide flexible manufacturing spaces for businesses that do not require large plots, it added.

Mohammed Khalid Noor, director of industrial areas at the ministry, said the initiative would offer entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized industrial enterprises more flexible options to establish and expand their businesses.

The project would also introduce an infrastructure model suited to modern industries, reduce barriers to entering the industrial sector and improve the use of available land, stated Noor.

The initiative forms part of Bahrain's efforts to diversify its industrial base, develop sustainable industrial infrastructure and support the growth of smaller manufacturers, he added.

The ministry has set December 23 as the deadline for submitting the bids.
