Go Energy, SARCO partner on low-carbon fuels project in Saudi Arabia

Go Energy Group, through its parent company Go Energy USA Corporation, has partnered with Saudi Arabia’s Clean Energy Co and its subsidiary SARCO to develop a low-carbon fuels project in the Kingdom, targeting export markets in Europe and Asia.

The project is planned to begin with an initial production capacity of approximately 50,000 tonnes per year, with a phased expansion strategy aimed at increasing capacity to as much as 400,000 tonnes annually at full development.

Engineering design activities have commenced, while further technical, commercial, regulatory and feasibility studies will determine the project’s final configuration, product mix, capacity expansion and investment requirements.

Subject to the completion of required studies, regulatory approvals and development milestones, the partners expect the project to begin operations in the first quarter of 2029.

The development is designed to serve growing demand for low-carbon fuels in European and Asian markets, where industries are increasingly exploring lower-carbon energy and feedstock alternatives.

The partners will assess suitable products and routes to market as development progresses, taking into account customer requirements, applicable standards and evolving regulatory frameworks.

Advanced technologies will also be evaluated for potential deployment, with an emphasis on operational performance, efficiency and suitability for international markets. Additional engineering, infrastructure, permitting and feasibility work will be required before a final investment decision and the start of construction.

The agreement follows an earlier memorandum of understanding between the companies to explore the development of a renewable ammonia plant. Following a strategic review, the parties agreed to conclude that memorandum and formalise a new collaboration focused on the low-carbon fuels sector.

The shift reflects the companies’ intention to align their partnership with the emerging market opportunity while strengthening the broader strategic relationship between Go Energy Group and Clean Energy Group.

The project’s final scope, investment decisions and production timeline remain subject to the outcome of ongoing assessments and the necessary approvals. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
