A delegation from the Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) met with members of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to expand cooperation in cultural tourism, heritage preservation, and the promotion of Bahrain’s tourism assets.
The meeting reviewed
areas of collaboration and explored new opportunities to strengthen
cooperation, particularly in cultural tourism and heritage conservation, reported
BNA.
The meeting also
addressed initiatives aimed at raising international awareness of Bahrain and
showcasing the Kingdom’s diverse tourism offerings.
Participants
highlighted the importance of UNESCO’s programmes in supporting tourism
projects with a strong cultural focus, noting their role in reinforcing
national efforts to promote Bahraini identity and heritage at the international
level.
Ambassador Issam Al
Jassim, Ambassador to the French Republic, commended UNESCO’s role in advancing
cultural and development initiatives worldwide.
He underscored Bahrain’s commitment to
strengthening its international engagement through closer cooperation with the
organisation, particularly in heritage and cultural tourism.
Sara Buhiji, CEO of
BTEA, emphasised BTEA’s commitment to working with international partners to
enhance Bahrain’s tourism experience.
She highlighted the
importance of initiatives that support the long-term sustainability of the
tourism sector, expand international cooperation and further strengthen
Bahrain’s position on the global tourism map.
