Air travel to and from Kuwait faced disruption on Wednesday after hostile drones struck Terminal One at Kuwait International Airport, forcing authorities to suspend flight operations at the terminal and divert aircraft to alternative airports.

The attacks on late Tuesday night, damaged parts of the airport's main passenger terminal and injured a number of people, according to the Ministry of Defense.

The disruption is particularly significant as Terminal One had only resumed normal operations this week, serving as the country's primary gateway for international travellers.

In a statement, Ministry spokesman Saud Al-Atwan said those injured in the attack received the necessary medical care. He added that the armed forces were closely monitoring developments in coordination with relevant authorities.

Following the strike, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation suspended air traffic at the airport and redirected flights to alternative destinations as emergency teams assessed the damage and secured the facility.

The attack is expected to cause delays and schedule disruptions for travellers, with airlines likely to adjust operations while authorities work to restore normal services at the airport.
