Egypt’s crude oil production has reached its highest level in almost two years, according to Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
He said the country’s refining sector is also delivering stronger export performance, with petroleum product exports exceeding 2.3 million tonnes in the first half of 2026, matching the total recorded for all of 2025.
Sales of jet fuel, naphtha, waxes and vacuum distillates generated approximately $2.3 billion, while exports are projected to rise to 2.5 million tonnes in the second half of the year.
Refining capacity has expanded across major facilities, with Cairo Oil Refining Company increasing monthly gasoline and jet fuel output, Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemicals Company operating above 110 per cent of design capacity, and Amreya Petroleum Refining Company raising 92-octane gasoline production.
The ministry is advancing $4.5 billion in refinery projects to strengthen energy security, reduce import costs and expand exports.
A recent EGP 150 million modernisation programme is expected to save EGP 30 million annually while reducing gas consumption, extending equipment life and cutting emissions. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
