The first deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Oman to a German company have begun despite the war in Iran, said a spokesperson for the German state-owned gas supplier Sefe.
The deliveries are currently unaffected by the developments in the
Gulf region and have commenced as planned, said the spokesperson, reported Reuters.
"From today's perspective, there are no concerns regarding future
deliveries," added the spokesperson.
Oman LNG signed a sales and purchase agreement with
Germany's Secure Energy for Europe (Sefe) in March 2024.
The agreement follows a prior commitment where Oman LNG inked a binding term sheet to supply Sefe with 0.4 million metric tonnes a year of LNG starting in 2026.
Germany's Capital business magazine first reported on the delivery
start.
