The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has honoured Alfred Pisani, Founder and Executive Chairman of Corinthia, with its prestigious WTTC Icon Award for his lifetime contribution to hospitality and tourism.
The award was presented at a VIP dinner during the WTTC’s
26th Global Summit in Malta, attended by more than 1,000 delegates, including
over 200 Travel & Tourism CEOs and government ministers.
The Icon Award recognises individuals whose achievements
have had a lasting impact on destinations and the global tourism industry.
Pisani’s career began in 1962 with the opening of a restaurant in Malta,
followed by the launch of the Corinthia Palace Hotel in 1968.
Over the following decades, he developed Corinthia into an
internationally recognised hospitality brand, expanding into major global
markets while maintaining its Maltese roots.
Pisani is widely recognised for helping establish Malta as a
prominent hospitality destination and demonstrating how a home-grown business
can compete successfully on the international stage.
The WTTC recognition celebrates his decades of
entrepreneurial leadership and his contribution to Malta’s tourism sector and
the wider global hospitality industry.
Gloria
Guevara, President &CEO, WTTC, said: "Alfred Pisani's story is one of
vision, perseverance and ambition. From Malta, he created a hospitality brand
that has earned global recognition while remaining deeply connected to the
values on which it was founded. His contribution extends far beyond a
successful business. He has helped showcase Maltese hospitality to the world
and inspired generations of entrepreneurs and tourism leaders. We are delighted
to recognise that remarkable legacy." -TradeArabia News Service
